The Merchant's House
The house (at 132 High Street) was home to 17th Century silk merchant. It provides an insight into the lifestyle and interests of a middle-class family during a century when modern Britain—an outward looking, emerging capitalist country and one with a maturing political life—was coming into being.

Marlborough's thriving community of artists

Listings

Would you believe that peppered throughout Marlborough — and in the villages around the town — there are more than 70 gainfully employed, professional artists? Providing you give them a call beforehand, each and everyone of these talented people, would be delighted to make you a coffee and show you their stuff. You'll see two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces, created in a wide range of media.

Marlborough Open Studios is an annual opportunity to meet amateur and professional artists in the beautiful North Wessex Chalk Downs (AONB) and visit their studios, workshops or pop-up galleries over the first four full weekends in July, between 11:00 and 17:00. There is no charge, just drop in when the artist is open. We look forward to seeing you then.

(There isn't a Tourist Information Centre in Marlborough, but you should be able to find all you need to know about the town on this website.)
