Marlborough plays host to an exciting and vibrant mix of cultural, artistic and sporting events every year.

Marlborough Literature Festival
The festival, which happens annually in September/October, is dedicated to..."recognising and celebrating and supporting real writers writing really good writing..." 2015 date: 2 - 4 October.

The Barbary Castle Horse Trials
A world-class cross-country course that's staged in July in the grounds of the Barbary Castle Estate, on the Wiltshire Downs. Combines Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country events over fences.

Marlborough College Summer School
A wide choice of weekly courses for adults and young people in the idyllic setting of one of England's most beautiful and prestigious independent schools. Courses run from Monday until Friday each week, for three weeks in July and August.

Marlborough Open Studios
Throughout the month of July, local artists throw open their studios (in and out of Marlborough) so that visitors have the opportunity to meet the artist, discuss techniques and perhaps discuss a commission or purchase an existing work.

Marlborough Mop Fair
Once a year, every year in October a fun fair takes over Marlborough High Street for most of Friday and all of Saturday. The fairs are held on the closest Saturdays to St Michaelmas Day, which falls on October 11. If however St Michaelmas Day is a Saturday, the fairs are held two weeks apart. The fair, which is known as the ‘Marlborough Mop Fair’, is allowed to use the town centre thanks to an 800-year-old statute which can only be reprieved by an Act of Parliament.
